Greetings in the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ. I am honored to be the pastor of Thurmont UMC.

The Fizer family consists of Nancy, Sarah, Ansel, Georgia, and I, the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Joseph Fizer, Jr., but I prefer “Pastor Ken”.  Our daughter, Sarah, is a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College, where she received her Bachelor of Music Education. Ansel and Georgia are the kittens our daughter brought home from college. Sarah is currently living in Boston, MA where she is working on master’s degrees at Boston University in Divinity and Social Work. My wife Nancy is originally from New Castle in the Western PA Conference. She studied Christian education and theatre at West Virginia Wesleyan College, and also has a Master of Religious Education from Wesley Theological Seminary. After working as a Christian Educator in a local church she enjoyed being a mom and wife while becoming a preschool teacher and a substitute teacher in Berkeley County, WV. She currently works for Home Team Senior Care.

I am beginning my 31st year of preaching the Good News of Jesus Christ. I have served churches in Fallston, Hagerstown, and Keedysville, MD, and Martinsburg, WV. My undergraduate degree is in business administration from Shippensburg University, and I have a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC. I am originally from Hagerstown and am a 5th degree black belt in Korean Karate. I have started karate ministries at each of my appointments. Thurmont UMC has some exciting ministries for all ages, and I look forward to sharing them with you and identifying more ways we can proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ in the world together.
