Hey Church, our word for this week comes to us from David in Psalms 51:10-11

“Create in me a clean heart, O God.  And renew a right Spirit within me.  Cast me not away from thy presence and take not thy Holy Spirit from me.”

I want to talk to you a little today about how God creates a “new” heart in us and puts a “new” Spirit within us.  In Davids day the Holy Spirit dwelt in no man but within the temple of the Lord.  The Spirit’s “anointing” was upon select people of which David was one, (also the prophets). Today we as believers in Jesus Christ by accepting what he did for us, Have the “great privilege” of having his Holy Spirit dwell within our hearts and lives.  Our hearts are no longer separated from God but brought back into right standing with him.  And thereby putting a new Spirit (the Holy Spirit) within our very being.  We’re still human so we still stumble and fall occasionally, but through prayer, bible study, fellowship, and service we begin to become more and more like him. I encourage you today that if you haven’t already taken that step, to do it today. Accept that gift that God gave us so many years ago on that Easter morning when Jesus conquered the grave and death and sin, paying the price for us.  Do it today while you still have the opportunity.  As it says in 2 Corinthians 6:2 “For he says, In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you. I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.”
