Words of Encouragement 3-6-24

Hey Church, our word for this week comes to us from David, in Psalms 22:1-2

“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish? My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, by night, but I find no rest.”

I want to talk to you a little today about how David “questioned God” in his times of trial and turmoil in his life. With all the turmoil and war and death and sickness etc. that we see around us in our world today and sometimes even things in our own lives, I often think life seems so unfair, as I see bad things happening to good and sometimes innocent people.  I believe it’s OK to question God about these things (as long as we do it in a non-contemptuous and respectful way.) We don’t always understand why things happen and we won’t fully understand why until we get to heaven, as scripture tells us in

1 Corinthians 13:12b

“Now I know in part, then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.”  The important thing to remember is that even though it doesn’t always seem so, that God “IS” in control and that he knows what’s best for us.  When life doesn’t go the way, we think it should remember that He’s there to help us by the power of his Holy Spirit within us because of what Jesus did for us. And He promises us in Paul’s writings in

Romans 8:28

“And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose (all who are Christians).”
